That’s right, comedy lovers. You read that right. For today only, you can download Doug Benson’s brand, spanking new album — his third — for $3.99. We’ve listened to the disc a few times already. If you’re a fan of Doug’s, you won’t be disappointed. New ground really isn’t the order of the day for Doug, but the man will make you laugh your ass off.
Doug Benson and Graham Elwood star in The High Road tonight at 8pm on the G4 network. Taped earlier this year, Benson hit the road with his comedic pal, Elwood for a two night tour in the Pacific Northwest. I was able to reach Doug briefly to ask what he is most proud of about this new special.
“I’m most proud of the fact that this pro-weed program is airing on commercial television. Ok, deep cable, but still. Blaze and gaze!”
Word is that the special airing tonight also has potential to be picked up as a series. More Doug Benson on TV is something I think we’d all like to see happen.
It’s Friday, folks, which means it’s time for us to let you in on who will be guesting on Marc Maron’s podcast WTF next week.
As a sponsor of the show and dedicated fans of the WTF cause, we’re proud to do it. So here it is. Janeane Garofalo makes her second appearance on WTF and the huge live WTF show recorded at the UCB theater in Los Angeles goes down with Maria Bamford, Doug Benson, Whitney Cummings, Jim Earl, Chris Hardwick and the mighty Eddie Pepitone.
WitStream, the new Twitter-like site that focuses on the tweets of comedians, enjoyed a festive launch on Monday night at Comix in New York City. Michael Ian Black, who co-founded the site, hosted the show. He was also on-hand throughout, critiquing the live feed of his peers’ WitSream one-liners from a laptop at the side of the stage. He also gave the best explanation of WitStream I’ve heard so far: “It’s like Twitter, but without most of the people.”
The show featured stand-up from some of WitStream’s top “aristocrats.” Baron Vaughn, Morgan Murphy, Black’s collaborator Michael Showalter, Josh Fadem, the Sklar Brothers and Doug Benson delivered killer sets. All in all, it was a great kickoff for the new site. You can keep your Twitter addiction, but definitely open a tab for WitStream, which will most definitely guarantee more chuckles per minute of wasted time.
Some of the top working stand-up comedians in the country will be starring in G4’s new TV series, The International Sexy Ladies Show. The show will air funny and provocative TV/DVD clips of women from Spain, Russia, Japan, Italy, and more. The clips will feature introductions and commentary from a panel of your favorite comedians: Doug Benson, Steve Byrne, John Caparulo, Mitch Fatel, Jo Koy, Sherrod Small, and the UK’s Alex Zane. The show premieres June 7 at 9:30 p.m. EST. Check out some previews below.
