Comedy Central’s Tosh.0 keeps climbing up the ratings latter. On Wednesday the show reached a new high, bringing in 2.7 million viewers. This broke the old record Tosh set on July 7, the show raked in 2.4 million, displacing Chappelle’s Show as the most watched show on that network’s slot.
This, of course, proves that Tosh knows what people like– horrible accidents, spills, bodily fluids and pure human stupidity caught on film. People also like when Tosh makes fun of those things.
Last year before the show premiered Tosh’s friend, comedian Todd Glass in a “half serious, half joking” way, told Tosh why his show would never succeed. Hilarious!
If you watched last night’s episode of Tosh.0, you may have noticed it was a re-run. But, the folks at the official show blog blessed us with an extended version of Tosh’s bit “If Daniel Fought Celebrities,” which is about twice as long as the originally aired version. And, dare we say, twice as funny.
So, without further exposition, watch the clip below, wherein Tosh predicts the outcome of hypothetical fights between him and the likes of Dane Cook, Zac Efron, Betty White and more!
On Wednesday night, a record 2.4 million people tuned into Tosh.0, Daniel Tosh’s weekly roast of all things dumb on the Internet. Why is this important? Well, as Deadline.com points out, the show Tosh.0 fills Comedy Central’s 10:30 p.m. Wednesday slot right after South Park, and this is the highest number of viewers the slot has seen since the era of Chappelle’s Show.
On the news of this success, we thought we’d take this opportunity to show you a clip from Tosh.0, because it’s fun. You like fun things, right?
Bulletin! Comedy Central’s Tosh.0 is kicks of its summer season tomorrow at 10:30 p.m. EST.
For those unfamiliar with the show — who are you? — it is like America’s Funniest Home Videos, except the show is actually funny. Comedian Daniel Tosh, hosts serving you the funniest, current viral videos on the Internet while roasting its stars unmercifully. There are no moral bounds; everybody and everything is fair game.
The new season’s first episode features a video of a girl choking on a cupcake. Tosh breaks the footage down second by second and hilarity ensues.
The most popular segment on the show, the Web Redemption, also returns. It’s where, with Tosh’s help, Internet stars get to redeem themselves from the embarrassment caused by their viral videos. In tomorrow’s premiere, Brendon Boucher, a gentleman who’s gained more than 1.8 million views on YouTube for his starring role as a lightning bolt thrower (think Dungeons & Dragons) in a live action role playing game, gets redeemed when Tosh – in glorious Braveheart war paint – brings him to Medieval Times.
To get you in the mood for tomorrow, check out the original video here and then right after, the Tosh.0 treatment. Enjoy!
Comedian Daniel Tosh has become quite the hit with the folks at Comedy Central. Tosh.0, his Talk Soup-esque series with a web-centric twist has just been renewed for a third season with new executive producer Charlie Siskel. The show has consistently gotten good numbers, and has also struck a chord on the web through Twitter, Facebook and the “Tosh.0” blog.
“I haven’t seen the show yet, but I understand Daniel is very funny,” said Kent Alterman, head of original programming and production for Comedy Central. “I would like to publicly thank him for making me look smart.”
“I am beyond thrilled about Season Three of ‘Tosh.0,’” said Tosh. “COMEDY CENTRAL has been like a father to me; they pretend to support my comedy and I am pretty sure they have slept with my mom.”
The third season of “Tosh.0″ will premiere on Wednesday, January 12 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
Hey, remember that time during the World Series last year when that father caught a foul ball and adorably handed it to his three-year-old daughter and then that daughter adorably tossed it back on the field and then the father adorably hugged his daughter?
Right, we don’t either! But, we just watched it on the old YouTube because, as it turns out, Daniel Tosh has invited said daddy and daughter on tonight’s Tosh.0 for the weekly Web Redemption feature, wherein a viral video star gets a chance to make things right in front of a national television audience.
But if you thought Mr. Tosh — deft in snark, sarcasm and just plain old being hilariously mean — can’t play along with an adorable premise, you’d be wrong– so very wrong. Check out a preview from tonight’s episode (10:30 pm EST) below. But make sure you watch the original video they’re talking about first so you get all the jokes. Ok? Awesome.
On tonight’s episode of Tosh.0, Daniel introduces a new segment called Web Reunion to the show. To christen the spot, he’s invited the Crystal Lite Dancers. You might be saying, who the fuck are the Crystal Light Dancers? It turns out, in 1987 there was something called the Crystal Light National Aerobic Championship and these three dudes from the San Francisco Bay Club, a health club, formed a team to compete.
We’d embed the wholly hilarious clip of them performing all those years ago but the ass hat who has the clip on YouTube disabled that option. So, go here and watch it and then come back here to watch the Tosh preview with the trio from tonight’s show on Comedy Central at 10:30 pm. EST.
In addition to the recent news that Tosh.0 Daniel Tosh’s Internet-delving, viral video-showing Comedy Central series, had been renewed for a second season — a record 25 episodes were ordered, marking the largest single season pick-up ever by the network — today it was announced that the quickly-rising comic will film a new one-hour stand up special premiering in 2010 (to be released on CD and DVD), as well as set out on a national stand-up tour– both for Comedy Central.
The appropriate conclusion to be drawn from the last paragraph: Daniel Tosh is having a good day. In response to the news, Tosh says “Comedy Central is making all my dreams come true, now if they could just cure my disease… technically it’s more of an infection.”
Tosh has a history with the network, releasing his debut album True Stories I Made Up on their label in 2005 and following up with his first hour special and DVD, Completely Serious in 2007.
Fans of Tosh.0 can look forward to seeing all their favorite features return this Jan. 13, including the ever-popular Web Redemptions. But if that’s too long to wait, in the meantime you can always check out the frequently updated Tosh.0 blog.
Hey, remember when television show seasons seemed to last for almost a whole year? Maybe there were twenty-something episodes? These days, networks crank out five or six episodes and slap a “season” label on it. Which brings us to this. Tosh.0, a Comedy Central show we love, seems like it’s still an incredibly new creation, yet we’re told that its second season finale airs tonight! Nomenclature aside, we hope Tosh.0 comes back for a third “season.”
So, this is our suggestion to you, fine comedy loving fans. Check out the preview below, wherein a dude trying to sell a flexible ladder on one of those horrible shopping networks bites it hard and then our hero Daniel offers him such much-needed web redemption. After you watch it, take a nap, and awake at 10 pm EST to watch the entire Tosh.0 season finale. That is all.
Execs at Comedy Central announced today that Tosh.0 will receive a significant shot in the arm, with additional episodes being ordered. The first six episodes for Daniel Tosh’s hilarious topical series are scheduled to begin airing on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 10 pm EST. What’s more, Tosh’s Comedy Central blog will be updated regularly and give fans the opportunity to interact with Tosh while new episodes are being filmed.
