You may know already that Curb Your Enthusiasm is going to be aired in syndication on the TV Guide Network, starting June 2. And we know what you’re thinking. How’s that going to work, what with all edgy material the writers inject in the paid cable version each week? And also, what about commercials? Doesn’t TV Guide Network have commercials? Yes.

Currently Curb runs for a straight 29 minutes uninterrupted on HBO, while the show’s new syndication channel will air commercials. But Curb fans need not worry. Yes, there will be commercials, but no – besides omitting nasty words – TV Guide will not be cutting anything. “But then won’t each episode run a bit longer than 30 minutes with commercials and no editing of content?” you’re probably asking now. Yes. Relax Here’s the deal.

In fact, you’ll be getting a full hour of Curb fun, thanks to new companion show Curb: The Discussion, hosted by comedian Susie Essman (Larry’s manager’s wife on the show), which cannot be seen on HBO.

In a recent conference call, to which Punchline Magazine was privy, show creator and star Larry David explained, “We have 10 minutes at the end to fill, because they’re not cutting any time out of the show. So, we’re doing this discussion of issues that are raised on the show. We have a panel. And you know, for example, on the first show of last year I found out the doctor was gay, and I went up to him and said ‘Hey I didn’t know you were gay, I was kind of surprised.’ And I offended him. So we’re discussing things like that. Should I have said something in that situation? Can you say something? We’ll even have somebody who is gay talk about it. Would he actually be offended if somebody said that to him? That’s pretty much what the idea of the discussion is.”

Ricky GervaisAfter last season’s success with the return of Jerry Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm star and creator Larry David is looking to continue with the string of hilarious cameos. Enter: Ricky Gervais.

According to Chortle, UK’s leading comedy news site, Gervais has been asked by David to appear in the upcoming season of his hit HBO series, which is going on it’s eighth season. Gervais, who is best known for being the creator of the British version of The Office, is a good friend of David’s, and both are very fond of each other’s work.

“I think Ricky Gervais is one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met,” says David.

The pairing would certainly provide for some hilarious episodes of the already extremely popular Curb. Both David and Gervais are considered two of the funniest guys in television, and combining their quirky senses of humor is most definitely a recipe for success.

An official announcement is expected to come in the next month or so.

Larry David says more Curb Your Enthusiasm might happen

Larry DavidEvery time a season of Larry David’s genius meta-comedy series comes to an end, fans fear it will be the last they’ll see of it.

It certainly looked that way three seasons ago, when a season finale had David making a trip to heaven. The future of the series has seemed uncertain ever since, with David looking as uncertain as anyone else. But this past Sunday at a panel discussion, David broke his usual code of vagueness and suggested that the HBO series could in fact continue with more seasons.

“I think there’s a pretty good chance,” David said. “Not definite yet, but we’re working on some stuff.”

David was speaking at PaleyFest in Beverly Hills alongside co-stars co-stars Cheryl Hines, Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman, Richard Lewis and Bob Einstein. Hopefully we’ll see them together again very soon.

david2Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm genius Larry David is getting even more star treatment than he’s used to these days. The WGA West just announced that David will receive this year’s Paddy Chayefksy Laurel Award for Television, honoring lifetime achievement in writing for television. He’ll receive the honor at the Feb. 20 WGA awards in LA.

In other news, David’s HBO sitcom is going porno! Well, not exactly. The people at Hustler have been exploring the genre of “parody porn” since the popularity of last year’s Nailin’ Palin. Curb will get a porno send up with the upcoming This Ain’t Curb Your Enthusiam. No word yet on whether they’ll use the infamous Curb title, “Beloved Cu!#t.”
