Jennifer Lopez tries stand-up comedy on George Lopez show

Digg!

Jennifer LopezJennifer Lopez did stand-up comedy on Lopez Tonight last night on TBS. Take a breath, and we’ll meet you at the beginning of the next paragraph.

Ok, now, we can look at this in one of two ways. First option is this: J.Lo, one of the biggest names in the history of celebrity, is tarnishing the art form that is stand-up by entitling herself to an incredibly visible spot that most struggling comics would murder their parents for.

Second option: J.Lo, one of the biggest names in the history of celebrity, is bringing to light the art of stand-up comedy to millions who would otherwise not be exposed to it and thus re-energizing the national comedy scene.

To make ourselves feel better, we’re going with the latter.

But what we really want to know is how you think she did? So, for the love of comedy, watch the clip below and please leave your opinions in the comments section. Enjoy!

It felt to me like she was doing a SNL monologue or hosting Sabado Gigante.

    Gringo

At least less than 4 minutes of that 6 minute clip was of her telling jokes.

Of course she didnt write any of the jokes but she did ok…..lots of walking around the stage and laughing at her own jokes….but i wont kick her out of bed, even if she “bombed real bad”…:)

She was cute. She told some jokes, but this does not a stand up comic make. Let her do a 20 minute set in a comedy club incognito and see what happens! But nice try, and cute jokes. It would be like if Chris Rock sang a tune. He might sing it well, but it doesn’t make him a singer!

So what’s the big deal? A star does a few minutes of variably funny jokes written by someone else from a teleprompter to open a variety show. Happens all the time, and has no effect on the art of standup comedy. Meh.

What’s with the “White” people jokes? And why did she call Palin a “cabrona”?

    Is she racist?

Congrats Ms. Jennifer, you did a great job. I’d still prefer her singing but who knows. maybe she’ll host her own show some day.

She did call Sarah Palin a “cabrona” which is a generally bad person. She has a lot of nerve judging someone like that.

Great job Jennifer! Why is it ok for Jay Leno,Conan O’brien and Dave Letterman to joke about Sara Palin, but not George or Jennifer?

What a cabrona. This is why I won’t be watching Lopez any more.

Wait… I take that back. Jen isn’t a cabrona, she is a puta, so are the people who let her call another women a bitch on a low rated, crappy, cable show.

Debbie–it is your opinion that the Lopez show is crappy. You are correct that it is a basic cable show…you are incorrect in that is is “low rated.” The ratings for Lopez Tonight surpass those of Jimmy Kimmel, Craig Ferguson, and Jon Stewart.
