David Cross clears “fucking Amber Tamblyn” comment with her parents
At a reading last night for his new book, I Drink For A Reason, New York Magazine asked David Cross about the odd addition to his book’s jacket wherein it states that he “is currently fucking Amber Tamblyn.”
“I cleared it with her, of course,” Cross told New York Magazine. “She has an amazing, great sense of humor. She told her dad and her parents are super cool. Her dad laughed even harder than we did.” He paused and added, with his perfect comedic timing: “So now we have to, like, stay together for a while.”
For those of you who might not know Tamblyn, she starred in the critically acclaimed but apparently barely watched Joan of Arcadia as well as both installments of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Hey Jan! I really like how you were sarcastic in your first sentence. But then you surprised me further in the second sentence. You up’d the ante! You tried to compare a sentence from a book jacket to a woman being raped in an effort to show disdain for a joke you don’t understand. NICE ONE. Also, your illogical argument is so convincing that your rhetorical rape question can only be answered by a heartfelt YES! Her dad would totally laugh.
P.S. – Jan, I know you have trouble understanding jokes, so I wanted to spell it out clearly that my comment was a joke poking fun at your comment. It used sarcasm, that thing you used unsuccessfully in your first sentence that made you come off like a huge jerk.

No, her Dad probably wouldn’t laugh at rape, because rape is a horrible thing that violates a person and scars them for life. Fucking your girlfriend, on the other hand, is nothing like rape.

OK. I didn’t know who David Cross was. So I looked him up in Wiki. One look at his picture and I had one more bit of proof that GOD invented Rock and Roll and Comedians so that ugly guys can date hot chicks. By the way, no normal dad that I know would be ok with the terminology that Mr. Cross used to describe his relationship with Amber.

…isn’t it common for people to laugh harder when they don’t actually want to laugh? Besides, what can the parents do, really, other than to accept who their adult daughter has decided to date?
It’s always strange when an attractive young woman decides to get together with someone twice her age who isn’t even good-looking in any way. Oh well, at least he’s rich.

Seriously, if the guy had used i make love with Amber Tamblyn or I sleep with….that can come off as more of a joke. But what kind of father jokes around about a guy making a joke about “fucking” his daughter” Its disgusting. It doesn’t matter if Cross meant it as a joke or not, and lets not pretend it does, its not something a respectful father should be laughing at.
