Louis CK series picked up by FX

Digg!

Louis CKIn June, we reported that Louis CK was at the Comedy Cellar in New York City filming part of what would become a pilot for cable giant FX. Tonight, we can report that the master comedian’s show will, in fact, see the light of day.

The show, Louie, will revolve around CK’s character, a stand-up comedian with two daughters trying to raise them properly in New York as a single Dad. By the way, if you don’t know, that’s exactly what Louis’ real life has become. Variety reports that FX has ordered 13 episodes of his new show.

The show will “blend stand-up material with… ‘extended vignettes’ depicting moments from his offstage experiences,” according to Variety. Louie is set to premiere early next year.

CK, who’s latest hour stand-up special Chewed Up was nominated for an Emmy also just signed on to star in NBC’s Parks and Recreation opposite Amy Poehler.
