Friday stand-up video: Paul F. Tompkins

Digg!

My Grandma died about a month or so ago, and I got a “last visit” with her a couple days before she passed. During this visit, my Grandma told me that because of my non-existing relationship with my mom, she changed her view on Christianity. That is to say that I had been a bad enough son to my own mom to make her think that all of Christianity was crap. How could stand-up comedy ever relate to me on this kind tragic turn of events? It happens when a comic has the balls to put their real life behind that microphone.

The reason Paul F. Tompkins is such a fantastic headliner, is because he isn’t afraid to put himself 100% behind his material. In this clip, he shares about a time he was losing his own mom, confronting the afterlife, and speaking to the absurdity of it all when all that matters is the time you have on this Earth and how you spend it. It is funny, true, and one of the reason why Paul F. Tompkins is the fucking man. God, I love stand-up comedy.
